What does AI support actually cost you per month?
Per-resolution pricing looks cheap on a pricing page because a single resolution is under a dollar. The number that matters is what it does to your bill in a busy month. Put your own volume in and see both models side by side.
Gorgias per-resolution

Growth — 1,000 resolutions included.

per month
Glassdesk figures are the live published plans (Starter $79 / Growth $199 / Scale $449). Starter and Growth hard-cap — there is no overage, the plan stops and asks you to upgrade. Scale includes 3,000 resolutions then bills $0.15 each. Gorgias AI Agent rates are their published figures as of 13 August 2026 and are checked in our pricing breakdown; vendors change prices without telling anyone, so re-check yours before deciding.
Read this before you trust the number
A calculator on a vendor's own website is an argument, not an audit. Here is where this one is weakest, so you can judge it properly.
Where per-resolution genuinely wins
Below roughly 88 resolutions a month, $0.90 each is cheaper than our smallest plan at $79. That is the whole crossover — above 88, the cheapest Glassdesk plan already wins and keeps winning, because the flat fee stops moving while the meter does not. If you are a small store with light support volume, a metered plan like Gorgias’s is genuinely cheaper and you should use it — Glassdesk does not sell one. A flat fee at that volume is us charging you for headroom you will not touch.
The model turns on you in three specific places, and none of them are about the average month:
- Seasonality. Your Black Friday bill is your Black Friday volume times the rate. The month you most need support to hold up is the month the invoice is largest, and you find out afterwards.
- Success is a penalty. Deflect more tickets and you pay more. That is a strange incentive to build a support strategy on — you end up quietly hoping the AI handles slightly less.
- You cannot forecast it. "Somewhere between $200 and $900" is not a line item you can put in a budget, and it is the honest answer for most stores on a per-resolution meter.
What this calculator deliberately does not do
- It does not include your helpdesk bill. Your Gorgias or Freshdesk seats cost the same either way, so they cancel out. Adding them to one side would inflate the gap dishonestly.
- It does not model partial resolutions. Real invoices have edge cases — a ticket the AI answers and a human reopens, a customer who replies "thanks" and closes it. Those definitions are the vendor's, they move, and we will not guess them for you.
- It does not claim you will deflect a given percentage. Any vendor showing you a savings figure built on an assumed deflection rate is showing you their marketing assumption, not your business. Our own benchmarks page explains why the published numbers in this category are mostly unfalsifiable.
Check it against your own invoice
The most useful ten minutes you can spend here is not on this page. Open your last three helpdesk invoices, find the AI or automation line, and divide by the resolutions it names. That gives you your real effective rate, including whatever edge cases your account actually hit — which is almost always higher than the headline rate, for everyone, in every tool.
Then put that number in the box above instead of ours.
Predictable is the whole product
Flat monthly pricing and hard caps on Starter and Growth, so your bill in December looks like your bill in February. Scale includes 3,000 resolutions, then $0.15 each — priced up front, and never a $0.90 success tax.
